Best regards\,Jennifer Hart\nSynopsis of Galveston County Prevention Summit Presentations\, September 8\, 2010: Teen dating violence is an emerging public health problem. Each year\, approximately 25% of teens are physically or sexually abused by dating partners. Victims of dating violence experience a host of devastating consequences\, including acute and chronic mental and physical health problems\, suicide\, delinquency\, risky sexual behavior\, school failure\, and substance abuse. Moreover\, individuals who perpetrate violence and sexual aggression in their adolescent relationships are at a heightened risk for continuing this behavior in their adult intimate relationships. Dr. Mireles intends to educate the audience about the numerous concerns for having unused and expired medicines (UEMs) at home and workplace. He will describe the contemporary issues of UEMs and the public health and social challenges they pose. Issues include environmental contamination\, patient safety\, public safety\, drug misuse and abuse\, and inappropriate drug recycling and donation. The objective of this presentation is to give an overview of the current discussion of UEMs at the state\, national and international levels\, with a special emphasis on "pharming" among teens. http://bayareacouncilondrugsandalcohol.homestead.com/coalitions-summitregistration.html
